Measures for reducing demand or turning to onsite generation in response to energy system operator requests

Demand response (DR) programs and customer capabilities make it possible for energy consumers to temporarily reduce their demand for electricity during emergencies or periods of very high energy prices. Measures implemented for demand response may have the added benefit of facilitating energy management and lowering energy costs year-round.

Nexant supports utility DR programs through analysis, design, marketing, and implementation, as well as through research designed to increase DR understanding and improve program features.

A DR audit, often completed in conjunction with an energy efficiency and renewable energy audit, evaluates the opportunities for businesses, industries, and institutions to implement temporary load shedding to enhance grid efficiency and reliability.
