Nexant directs multi-party policy and strategy development efforts for utility and national energy efficiency programs. Our staff advises on industry policies and regulations that encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy, the economics of climate change mitigation technologies, demand-side management (DSM), and private sector services.

For example, we are adept at analyzing marginal costs, program metrics, and economic inputs to planning analyses, and at developing compliance filings for electric and gas utilities throughout North America, as well as for government agencies subject to Executive Orders. We have particular depth in utility Integrated Resource Planning principles and practices and DSM portfolio planning—processes that involved planning for numerous multi-million-dollar DSM programs to be implemented over several years. Our experience in modeling energy consumption, identifying energy savings potential, and recommending programs is among the strongest in the industry.

Our senior staff members have conducted dozens of strategic studies and our engineers have conducted thousands of energy performance analyses annually throughout North America. We support public-goods-funded DSM programs implemented as utility core programs, provide turnkey design and implementation of numerous third-party programs, and represent and provide technical services and consulting to owners and developers of facilities in every market sector.
