PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY SENIOR RESEARCH ANALYST—CHEMSYSTEMS® —BANGKOK

The senior research analyst is a member of a global team dedicated to researching, analyzing, modeling, and producing long-term forecasts of the petroleum and petrochemical industries. The analysis and forecasts are sold to clients under Nexant's ChemSystems brand. The ChemSystems team operates from offices in London, New York, and Bangkok producing reports on various aspects of the industry that help our clients understand the dynamics and drivers of the industry, and from that understanding generate improved profitability.

To make sense of an industry as complex as petrochemicals requires reliable data on many aspects of the industry, which is not always readily available. Consequently, effective research techniques and strategies are essential to the gather accurate data on the industry and to ensure the success of the ChemSystems business at Nexant. Insightful analysis of industry data is required to add value and produce forecasts of the industry.

This exciting position in a dynamic global team entails market research and analysis of the industry to meet the needs of ChemSystems publications. Research will be conducted by: exploring internet sites of producers, industry associations, etc; making telephone calls to contacts in producing companies; reading published information in trade journals, internet newsletters, etc; and conducting telephone and face-to-face interviews of industry experts. Analysis of the industry will make use of the ChemSystems Simulator—a proprietary database-driven software application—and analysis spreadsheets and other tools./p>

The position is based in Bangkok, Thailand but will require travel to other Nexant offices and to client/contact sites largely in Asia. Training in industry analysis and use of the ChemSystems Simulator will be provided in Bangkok and via training assignments in Nexant's London and New York offices during the first 12 months.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemical engineering, chemistry, or business/economics, with two to five years of experience in a commercial or planning role in the petrochemical industry.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical/commercial background, proven analytical capability, and good interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively in a global team. Excellent written and spoken English is required. Must be proficient in using internet search engines and online and offline databases, and highly proficient in using spreadsheets and word-processing applications.
