SOFTWARE ENGINEER/DEVELOPER—POWER SYSTEMS—CHANDLER, AZ

Based in Chandler, AZ, Nexant's Energy Solutions practice is a major engineering and consulting group with a reputation for building cutting-edge software solutions for our clients. Due to a major expansion agenda, we have a need for a hands-on and talented power system software engineer/developer to join our team as a fulltime/regular employee. Local applicants preferred, but we are prepared to offer a relocation package to the right candidate!

Job Description

The successful candidate will participate in the full life-cycle development of energy market power system software, including design, implementation, testing, and support. Areas of responsibility may include interacting and understanding customer and market needs and implementing the corresponding software solutions.

Qualifications

We are looking for motivated developers having hands-on software development knowledge and 4-5 years of work experience, with the following qualifications:

  • Masters or Ph.D. in electrical engineering with power systems option and emphasis on optimization, economics, and/or electric energy markets
  • Working knowledge of FORTRAN / C / C++
  • Experience in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software enhancements and modifications
  • Experience in providing internal and external client support

Software Engineering/Development Skills

  • Understanding of steady-state power system analysis
  • Understanding of linear and quadratic programming applied to steady-state power system models
  • Ability to quickly analyze software requirements for new product features
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, text editors, compilers, and software debuggers or comparable development environments
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills
  • Willingness to learn and function in a strong team environment
  • Ability to work within schedules and deadlines
