TECHNICAL PROJECT AND PRODUCT MANAGER—SOFTWARE

Nexant's Software and Information Systems business unit is an engineering and consulting group with a reputation for building cutting-edge software solutions for energy industry. We have an immediate opening for a hands-on technical project manager and experienced J2EE software product architect to lead our development team located in our San Francisco office as a regular, fulltime employee.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full life-cycle of the n-tiered, web-based, energy management software product development projects, including requirement collection, product design, implementation, and support. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, project management, implementation of business logics, workflows, software architecture design, and databases. The individual will provide technical leadership and manage a team of software developers, users, and subject-matter-experts who are familiar with business requirements of the products.

Qualifications

We are looking for motivated individuals having hands-on software development knowledge and more than 15 years of working experience, with the following qualifications:

  • Excellent communications, leadership, and client relationship management skills
  • Technical project management experience with software projects in the size range of $500,000
  • Strong core java expertise in architecting and developing scalable J2EE systems
  • Implementation experience with Hibernate, Struts, and other frameworks
  • Good knowledge of open source software for J2EE applications
  • Strong knowledge of service oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Good database and RDBMS knowledge
  • Team player with a proactive and analytical working attitude
  • Electrical utility business, energy efficiency, and/or demand-side management knowledge
  • B.S. in computer sciences, electrical engineering, or related fields; M.S. is preferred

Software Development Skills

  • EJB, Servlets, Hibernate, Struts, Oracle, Acegi Security Framework, Sitemesh, JBOSS/WebSphere, Tomcat, SOAP, Apache
  • J2EE, Java , Ajax, Web Services, XML, XLST, JUnit
  • Alfresco Enterprise Content Management, jBPM Process Engine, Lucene Search Engine, JasperSoft Reporting Server, Log4j, etc. is a plus
  • HTML and JavaScrip experience
