Nexant to Develop and Support Commercial and Residential Energy Efficiency Programs for Santee Cooper

Boulder, CO---October 5, 2009---Nexant, the global energy software and consulting firm, today announced that it has been retained by South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper) to develop and facilitate the implementation of a suite of residential and commercial energy efficiency programs. The goal of the Santee Cooper "Reduce the Use" programs is to achieve a minimum of 131 gigawatt hours of energy savings by 2020.
Santee Cooper is South Carolina's state-owned electric and water utility, and the state's largest power producer, supplying electricity to more than 163,000 retail customers in Berkeley, Georgetown, and Horry counties, as well as to 31 large industrial facilities, the cities of Bamberg and Georgetown, and the Charleston Air Force Base. Santee Cooper also generates the power distributed by the state's 20 electric cooperatives to more than 700,000 customers in all 46 counties. Approximately two million South Carolinians receive their power directly or indirectly from Santee Cooper. The utility also provides water to 137,000 consumers in Berkeley and Dorchester counties, and the town of Santee.
Nexant has designed, delivered, and managed many of the largest demand-side management and energy efficiency programs in the United States. For Santee Cooper, Nexant will help design and bring a suite of programs to market that are intended to achieve tangible, cost-effective energy efficiency savings for Santee Cooper’s residential and commercial customers. Nexant will provide development, management, documentation, implementation, and marketing assistance for a broad range of energy efficiency programs in both the residential and non-residential market segments.
For this assignment, Nexant is teamed with the Geavista Group of Dallas, TX, whose management expertise in residential program design and implementation complements Nexant’s capabilities.
