Ken Vormwald Joins Nexant as Principal of Sales and Marketing

Will Focus on Energy Market Software and Application

San Francisco---March 10, 2003---Nexant, Inc. (www.nexant.com), a leading provider of technology solutions and consulting services to the global energy industry, announced today that Ken Vormwald will lead marketing and sales for company's energy market and transmission network analysis applications division-Power Computer Applications (PCA)

Vormwald comes to his new assignment with nearly 30 years of utility industry experience in energy management systems and network analysis technologies. Most recently, he was a principal marketing and sales account executive for Open Access Technologies, International. Previously, at Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution, Inc., he served as general manager of Siemens Meter Systems Group, a wireless AMR and meter data warehouse system developer, and managed the Siemens Energy Market Solutions business segment in Minneapolis, MN.

Reporting directly to Dr. Ongun Alsaç, senior vice president and director of Nexant's PCA division, Vormwald will guide the division's North American marketing and sales efforts for several software applications, including HEDGE, SCOPE, FLASH, MODELEX, and GridSmart. "In his new position, Ken will draw on a track record of success in the electric industry software business. As restructuring of the U.S. bulk power market progresses, his breadth and depth of experience will help drive Nexant's strategy for that market," Alsaç said. "Nexant is recognized as the world's premier developer of electric power software applications and related services, and Ken will play a vital role in helping our PCA team sustain that reputation and in expanding our opportunities throughout the industry."

Vormwald started his career in the power industry in 1974 at Control Data's Energy Management System division, later renamed Empros, working on a team that developed the industry's first dispatcher training simulator. Over the years, he has served in a number of senior management and marketing roles, including business strategy development, product management, market analysis, forecasting, and customer relationship management. He holds a B.S. in computer science from the University of Minnesota, where he also completed postgraduate studies in electrical engineering and power system analysis.
