TOPAZ® is Nexant’s sophisticated topology estimation tool, developed to overcome the vulnerability to topology errors that traditional energy management system state estimators have to bad input status data.
Using an advanced combinatorial bad data analysis technique, the tool is designed specifically to identify topology errors such as bad circuit breaker or switch statuses and improve a state estimator’s performance without necessarily replacing it.
Key features include:
- Speed – TOPAZ is the fastest, most robust tool for identifying and correcting circuit breaker and switch status errors in real time telemetered data.
- Comprehensive modeling – Allows non-traditional devices such as switches to be explicitly modeled in the SE with their associated telemetered measurements.
- New top-down design – The interaction of bad status data and bad analog data are treated as a single, combined problem to be solved.
- Solution robustness – A fast combinatorial search technique is used to correctly identify erroneous measurements in configurations with multiple, interacting bad data present.
