RECOMMISSIONING SERVICES AND PROGRAM DESIGN

Nexant's current role in the recommissioning (RCx) market developed from our leadership in DSM programs and measurement and verification (M&V) strategies. In an effort to maximize energy saving opportunities, we developed systematic approaches to optimize building operations. These methods are now being implemented through a number of recommissioning programs and projects, most of which are providing verified energy savings.

Nexant has a unique combination of administrative, theoretical, and practical experience with RCx programs and projects for commercial and institutional buildings. Some of the facility types with which we have been involved include: office buildings, college campus facilities, hospitals, museums, laboratories, telecommunications facilities, food services and gymnasiums.

Our staff has a broad knowledge of system operation, diagnosis, and optimization for all kinds of HVAC systems, chillers, and boilers, as well as domestic hot water systems and lighting to enhance building operation and reduce energy costs. Nexant has particular experience and familiarity (but is not limited to experience) with energy management and control systems from Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Staefa, and CSI. Nexant professionals have been involved more than 100 RCx projects since 2002.

RETROCOMMISSIONING SERVICES

Nexant takes a scientific approach and utilizes proven technologies to optimize building HVAC systems to reduce energy consumption and improve building comfort in commercial and industrial buildings, college campuses, hospital and medical facilities. Retrocommisioning is a systematic examination of equipment and systems that utilizes metered data to ascertain equipment functionality. It entails a rigorous investigation to identify problems and integration issues. As recognized by the engineering industry, optimizing the energy using systems in buildings typically reduce HVAC energy use by 20% to 50%, resulting in a 5% to 20% decrease in total energy cost.

We are qualified RCx providers for utilities in California, Colorado, and New York, and provide technical oversight for utilities in Texas and elsewhere. These programs can offset the costs of recommissioning (please see selected program links below):
