Recent projects include:
U.S. AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (USAID)-IQC II ENERGY SECTOR TECHNICAL ADVISORY AND ASSISTANCE SERVICES. USAID contracted with Nexant for the Energy Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) II to promote economic growth and reduce long-term threats to the global environment. The purpose of this contract is to acquire short and long-term advisory services and technical assistance in the areas of energy sector reform, utility management, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and technology transfer. This contract is being used to promote the more efficient generation, transmission, distribution and use of energy in USAID client and non-client countries.
U.S.TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY USTDA)-SHENYANG POLYGENERATION. For USTDA, Nexant examined an integrated coal gasification, power generation and district-heating project in Shenyang, China, using advanced coal utilization and processing technology.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY LABORATORY (NREL)-BIOMASS GASIFICATION STUDY. For NREL, Nexant evaluated and developed cost estimates for commercial gas cleanup technologies that are suitable for biomass gasification to produce liquid transportation fuels.
U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY (EPA)-ASSESSMENT AND COMPARISON OF GASIFICATION COMBINED CYCLE AND PULVERIZED COAL POWER GENERATION. Nexant performed two studies for U.S. EPA to examine performance and costs for gasification and pulverized coal-fired power generation. Power plant emissions, effluents and solid wastes were a primary focus of the evaluation.
NATIONAL RENEWABLE ENERGY AGENCY (NREA). Nexant assisted NREA, in cooperation with the Government of Egypt, to analyze the development of hydrogen economy based on the abundant natural gas supply in Egypt to lessen the reliance on imported oil for transportation fuels and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
