Katy McSurdy has been with Nexant for over five years, working in Marketing and Business Development. As the Content Marketing Strategist, Katy manages Nexant's corporate website, social media team, blog, press releases, newsletters, marketing collateral, email campaigns, and internal corporate communications. She also contributes to event coordination and presentations, and has written content for some of Nexant's top utility clients. Katy is on Nexant's Sustainability Committee and is an active member of the Association of Energy Services Professionals. She previously worked in academic publishing for Wolters Kluwer and Taylor & Francis in Philadelphia and has over 13 years of experience in writing and editing. Her work as a freelance writer and poet has been published in Apiary, Philadelphia Stories, Summerset Review, Leveler, Grid Magazine, Ursinus Magazine, and the Pennsylvania Gazette, among others. She was the recipient of the Dolman Prize for Creative Writing and the Lantern Poetry Prize. Katy has studied under Philadelphia Poets Leonard Gontarek and Alison Hicks, and interned with horror writer Jonathan Maberry. She graduated from Ursinus College with a BA magna cum laude in Writing and Environmental Studies.
