Nexant is pleased to be an active member of AESP, and the National Conference is a great place for us to connect with our favorite colleagues across the industry.

This year Nexant’s LeAndra MacDonald will moderate a session on a topic top of mind for our consultants: helping utilities adopt entrepreneurial thinking.

Session 1A: Marketing | Brand and Design Thinking Innovation – Using DSM as a Springboard

Nexant Moderator: LeAndra MacDonald, Nexant Inc.
With panelists from E Source and AM Conservation Group
Date: Tuesday, February 14, 2017
Time: 10:30-11:45 PM

In its infancy, our industry was seen as a beacon of modern times. Forty years later, that world has changed dramatically. Regulators want us to obtain a growing percentage of electricity from renewable sources. A car maker is positioning itself as an energy innovation company. Our customers want to generate their own power. Amidst this disruption, our regulatory environment stifles the creativity and vision required to keep up. How can we reinvent ourselves as innovators? This session will explore how our industry can use design thinking to better structure DSM services for the needs of our customers, employ rapid prototyping techniques to iteratively improve our service offering and brand them in a way our customers covet. We can be seen as innovators by focusing on our customers and our strengths in the marketplace, then reimagining how we position ourselves.
