Senior Consultant

Dr. Mikhaiel is a senior consultant with Nexant’s Energy and Chemicals division. Nelly has about 15-years of experience as a natural gas consultant, with a focus on liquefied natural gas (LNG).  Nelly’s expertise covers global natural gas with an emphasis on North American shale gas and LNG import/export markets.  She is conversant with LNG import/export terminal regulatory/commercial concerns such as siting/permitting issues, terminal use agreements, and import/export authorizations.

During her time at FGE, Nelly spearheaded the company’s research on Atlantic Basin LNG markets and global LNG supplies. Prior to her tenure at FGE, Nelly was an LNG consultant at Poten & Partners in New York. In that role, she provided strategic advisory services along the entire natural gas and LNG value chain from gas reserves, pipelines, liquefaction plants, shipping and terminals through to trading and gas marketing.

Nelly received both her Bachelor of Arts (Honors) and Ph.D degrees at the University of Western Australia. Her 100,000 word history thesis dealt with the United States Strategic Petroleum Reserve between the years 1981-1990.
